尖閣諸島や朝鮮半島など、日本をとりまく情勢は緊張感が高まっているのに、理念なきまま漂流しているように見える民主党政権。先月の沖縄県知事選では、現職・新人両候補が選挙公約で普天間基地の「県外移設」を主張し、現職・仲井真知事が勝利。一方、市民の期待を寄せられた民主党政権は「沖縄の負担軽減」しか言おうとしない。そして、眼前の状況を無批判に垂れ流しているだけに見えるマスメディア・・・。今年4月、民主党政権は、自民党政権が否定し続けてきた沖縄財政密約の文書公開を求めた訴訟の結果を受け入れることなく、控訴した。この控訴に続き、辺野古移転政策が継承されることとなったのは偶然ではあるまい。それゆえに、控訴審の勝利は、沖縄返還を歪め、沖縄にだけ日米安保の暗部を押しつける原因となってきた「密約」の呪縛を断ち切り、沖縄が新たに直面することとなった複雑な状況の打開にも役立つと確信する。今の緊迫した事態にどう対処するべきか、返還時にも立ち返りつつ、沖縄の視点から問いかけたい。
