福岡県出身の山本達雄さん（故人）を長井ディレクターが取材したものです。

▽２００７年９月２７日、取材中の映像ジャーナリスト、長井健司さんが
ミャンマー軍に銃撃され、殺害されました。
その長井さんは２００４年に原爆投下後の広島から炎を懐炉に移して持ち帰った元兵士を訪ね、
被爆時の状況と被爆者自身の戦後の葛藤について取材したドキュメント作品
『家に灯った原爆の火』をつくっています。
▽８月６日の投下直後、親戚の安否を尋ね広島の市街地に入り、
地獄絵の中を探し歩いた福岡県星野村出身の元日本兵山本達雄さん。
叔父を焼き殺し、広島を地獄図と化した原爆の火。それは恨みの火であったといいます。
その山本達雄さんが２００４年５月、他界。
番組では、亡くなる３年前に取材した記録映像から、
山本さんにありのまま語っていただいたその稀有な原爆体験のすべてを紹介しています。
▽長崎の原爆投下の８月９日放送の『ＣＵＢＥ』では、
長井さんが伝えたかったことは何だったのかを考え、
ヒロシマから福岡、そしてミャンマーへと続く平和の灯火を見つめたいと思います。
