銃撃された瞬間をとらえたフジテレビの映像が、
2008年度の新聞協会賞を受賞しました。

フジテレビジョンは、平成19年9月27日、ミャンマーのヤンゴンで、
反政府デモ取材中の日本人ジャーナリスト・長井健司さんが
治安部隊兵士に銃撃され、倒れた瞬間をとらえ、翌28日朝のニュースで報じた。
ミャンマー政府は長井さんの死亡を流れ弾に当たったと説明し、
事実を闇に葬り去ろうとしていたが、このスクープ映像が故意に銃撃された事実を立証し、
ミャンマー政府の虚偽と残虐性を暴いた。
言論弾圧の厳しいミャンマーにおいて、反政府デモの情報を事前に察知し、
周到な準備のもと撮影したこの決定的な映像は、
各国メディアが報じ、全世界に衝撃を与えた。
各国政府の対応と報道の流れを一変させた国際的影響力を持つ
価値ある報道として高く評価され、新聞協会賞に値する。
