長井記者は生前、“KNLA”の取材を計画していた
「Karen National Liberation Army」＝カレン民族解放軍とは、
ビルマの反政府組織カレン民族同盟「KNU」の軍事部門
私たちは9月、遺された取材を完結させるためビルマに潜入した

民族自立を求めるカレンなどの少数民族は、
ビルマ族を中心とする軍事政権から迫害を受けている
ほとんどの少数民族が停戦を余儀なくされている中で今も尚、
自衛のための武力闘争を続けているのはKNLAだけ

KNLAのキャンプでビルマ軍の元兵士らに出会った
今、こうした“脱走兵”が後を絶たないという
彼らは私たちにこう訴えた
「私たちが守っているものは軍事政権のトップのイス」
「ビルマ兵50万人のうち、およそ半数は軍事政権に不満を持っている」

取材を進めると、長井記者の銃撃に使用された銃について、
“ある重大な証言”を得ることが出来た・・
