日ミャンマー外相会談（概要）

ベトナムを訪問中の中曽根外務大臣は、25日（月曜日）現地時間午後2時15分（日本時間午後4時15分）から約35分間、ニャン・ウイン外務大臣と外相会談を行ったところ、概要以下のとおりです。
1.アウン・サン・スー・チー女史の訴追
中曽根大臣より、本件について深く懸念している、アウン・サン・スー・チー女史の裁判は司法の問題であることは理解するし、また医師・弁護士の提供や外交団による傍聴などの努力は評価するが、判決によっては国際社会から厳しい批判・反応が予想される、現在はミャンマーと国際社会にとり極めて重要な時期であり、国際社会の声を踏まえて適切に対応することがミャンマーの利益である、ミャンマーの民主化が、すべての関係者が参加し、国際社会から祝福されるような形で進むことを期待している旨述べた。
これに対し、ニャン・ウイン外相より、今次事件はミャンマー政府が作ったのではなく、違う立場の人間が作ったものである、ミャンマーは国際社会との関係を良くするよう努力しているが、ミャンマーと米国、EU、日本等との関係が良くなることを望まない人たちが作り出している、アウン・サン・スー・チー女史が2010年の総選挙に参加するかどうかは近く制定される選挙関連法により規定される、選挙法の規定を満たせば誰でも総選挙に参加できる、本件は司法手続であり、アウン・サン・スー・チー女史の罪の有無は最終的に裁判所が決定するものである、政治問題と経済問題は区別されるべきである旨述べた。
2.日メコン首脳会議
中曽根大臣より、麻生総理から先週、本年後半に日メコン首脳会議を開催する旨発表した、同会議では日本とメコン地域の今後の協力につき話し合う予定で、ミャンマーからも出席をお願いしたい旨述べた。これに対しニャン・ウイン外相より、メコン地域全体の開発のために日本が果たしうる役割は大きい、麻生総理の日メコン首脳会議開催発表を嬉しく思う、出席につき最大限努力したい旨述べた。
3.2007年9月の長井健司氏死亡事件
中曽根大臣より、本件につき、日本国内では引き続き注目されている、真相究明及び遺留品の捜索につき、引き続き協力をお願いしたい旨述べた。これに対しニャン・ウイン外相より、本件については非常に残念であるが、日本人だから狙われたわけではなく、大勢の人がいる中で偶然起きた事件である、遺留品については捜索してきているが現在もどこにあるか分からない旨述べた。これに対し中曽根大臣より、引き続き遺留品の捜索を行うよう要請した。
