また、国連人権理事会のキンタナ特別報告者は今月20日、「総選挙のプロセスに深刻な欠陥がある。表現や結社の自由が選挙法の下で厳しく制限されている」と述べた。
これに先立ち、ビルマ軍事政権の選挙管理委員会は、総選挙実施時に国際選挙監視団や外国報道機関の記者の入国を認めない方針を示している。
