少数民族の連合軍のリーダーはAPF通信社の取材に対し、「ビルマ軍は総選挙で投票しない市民を弾圧しようとした。私たちの武装蜂起は市民らを救うことが目的だ」と答えた。
8日には、少数民族の連合軍とビルマ軍との間で戦闘が起き、死傷者が出ている。
