東京都中央区にある築地市場の移転予定地となっている江東区豊洲地区の土壌汚染を巡り、市場で働く仲卸業者や都民ら200人以上が都に対し、都が調査のため移転予定地の土壌から採取したサンプルの土を廃棄しないよう求めている訴訟の第7回目の口頭弁論がきょう、東京地裁であった。
都はこれまでに、移転予定地計4,122ヶ所でボーリング調査を実施し、サンプルの土を採取。このサンプルをもとに有害物質の分布状況を分析し、汚染対策を立てた。
しかし、原告側は、「都の土壌汚染対策は極めてずさんで不十分。現に移転予定地に存在する有害物質を確実に除去できない。土壌汚染対策を再検証することなく、市場の移転が行われたなら、有害物質によって、市場で働く業者の生命身体が害される可能性が極めて高い。都が、客観的な再検証可能な唯一の証拠物を廃棄することはあってはならない」と主張している。
東京都中央卸売市場広報課はAPF通信社の取材に対し、「原告側の主張は言いがかりに過ぎない」「国内最高レベルの専門家会議において、必要な土壌汚染対策を講じれば、有害物質は確実に取り除くことができ、例え、人が移転予定地に一生涯住み続けたとしても絶対に健康被害は生じない、という提言が出ている」「土のサンプルは採取から2年が経過し、すでに劣化しているため、再検証しても意味がない」と話した。
